ADULT TRAINING
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104) [printable pdf outline]
This course is a necessary prerequisite to train others in the Australia vocational education system. It is also provides a solid understanding in how to develop skills and competencies in others. This course is offered through a range of options depending on the student’s previous qualifications and experience.

These courses which can be studied on a full or part time basis, are designed to assist Christians to become more effective in their area of ministry through spiritual growth, bible knowledge and a sampling of ministry development training. The Christian Ministry courses focus more on developing skills in particular ministry areas while the theology courses focus more on public communication of the gospel. If studied full time, the Certificate III is a six month course; while the Certificate IV course is a one year course.

These courses are designed to assist students to take on a significant area of Christian ministry and/or develop leadership skills. The courses can be studied either full or part time and enable students to study at a significant level of breadth and depth across spiritual and leadership development, biblical studies and ministry development. The Christian Ministry course focuses more on developing skills in particular ministry areas while the theology courses focus more on public proclamation of the gospel. Graduating students have gone on to be pastors or ministry leaders both within and outside the church in various areas of specialisation as a result of completing these courses. These courses are two years in length if studied full time.

CREATIVE ARTS

This set of six courses has a strong focus on the development of creative arts skills in the context of Christian ministry. Students will be required to select a major area of study and will also have access to a wide range of electives. These courses also has a strong emphasis on spiritual growth. These courses are one year in length if studied full time.

This course is designed to provide students with a complementary qualification to the Certificate IV in Creative Ministries that has a secular industry application.

Diploma of Creative Ministries [printable pdf outline]
This set of seven courses will assist students in developing a solid foundation in creative arts ministry and/or leadership. These courses will further students creative arts ministry skills as well as equip students for leadership and pastoral positions in creative arts. Students also have the opportunity to grow in their effectiveness in Christian outreach through the creative arts and develop skills to perform in a secular context. These courses also have a solid foundation in biblical and spiritual formation studies, general arts related studies and a wide range of elective options. Students studying full time will take two years to complete any one of these courses (or an additional year for students completing the appropriate Certificate IV course).

This course is designed to provide students with a complementary qualification to either the Diploma of Creative Ministries (Music Performance) or Diploma of Creative Ministries (Music Composition and Arrangement) that has a secular industry application.

Advanced Diploma of Creative Ministries
These courses will build on those skills gained in the Diploma. Students doing these courses will have the opportunity to further develop their skills in their selected area of creative arts as well as expand their leadership, ministry and biblical skills. These courses will also enable students to diversify into other areas of the arts as well as develop teaching skills. A key component of these courses will be a significant field placement in a relevant field.

ENGLISH as a SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

Each of the preceding courses are six months in length and progressively build from the Certificate I up to the Certificate IV. Each course covers listening and speaking skills as well as reading and writing skills. The training will involve learning beyond the classroom by involving students in real life situations in the Australian community. Students will also have a number of tourism opportunities.

The teaching venue is located in the leafy Canberra suburb of Yarralumla which is home to many foreign embassies.

Students will be required to sit an IELTS (or TOEFL) English test as part of their entry requirements. There are only a very limited number of spaces remaining for the initial intake which will be at the Certificate II/III levels.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Certificate II in Information Technology (ICA20105)

The Certificate II course provides students with a range of practical skills to be a competent user of Information Technology. Included are development of skills in a range of core Microsoft products (Windows, Word and Excel (to an intermediate level), Outlook, Email and Powerpoint). Also included are skills in accessing the internet, how to protect against viruses and spyware and how to select and install software applications and hardware peripherals.

The Certificate III course provides a comprehensive background to both hardware and software associated with personal computers. The course is hands on and enables students to build computers from individual components. A wide range of standard PC software products will also be studied to an intermediate level including the development of macros. The course also provides an overview of Linux and Apple Macintosh systems.

The Certificate IV course provides in-depth study of IT networking. It also covers an introduction to project management.
