Jazz, Blues & Improvisation
A key to effective contemporary worship ministry is the ability to improvise! Are you an instrumentalist who wants to develop improvisation skills? It is possible! Learn how to improvise in contemporary styles. This unit is largely practical. Individual & group tuition is available.

Diploma of Music/ Certificate IV in Music (Contemporary)
The Diploma and Certificate IV courses in Music are designed to give people opportunity to develop skills and knowledge related to the music industry. The courses will train individuals in music performance, composition and technical production areas. The courses will provide you with further practical skills development, a comprehensive knowledge of contemporary music theory, performance and stagecraft skills, and/or the development of arrangement & composition skills as well as providing general training in music industry areas such as copyright and OH&S.

These qualifications can also be studied either separately to or as part of a Certificate IV in Creative Ministries which provides a Christian context to these studies. For more info call the college for a course outline.

Training & Assessment

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAA401)

This course is a necessary prerequisite to train others in the Australia vocational education system. It is also provides a solid understanding in how to develop skills and competencies in others.

Fastrack upgrade:
A one day course.
Who is this course for?
• people who have received their Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training within the last two years and
• are actively involved in training.

The three sessions will cover all of the necessary units of competency for the course. Areas covered in the context of adult education are: learning environment, learning design, delivery, facilitation and assessment.

Information Technology

Certificate II in Information Technology [Unity College, Phillip]
Students studying the Certificate II course will develop skills in the use of Email and the internet and Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. The course will also cover how to connect and printer and a scanner to a PC. Limited places available.
16 week course starting 4 February

Certificate III in Information Technology [Charity Computers]
Certificate IV in IT (Networking) [Charity Computers]

These are semester length courses. The Certificate III and Certificate IV courses are being run by Unity College in conjunction with Charity Computers.

The Certificate III course covers hardware maintenance and repair, basic networking, operating systems and client relations. The Certificate IV course covers more specialized IT networking skills and related skills such as project management.

Charity Computers offers the trainee a unique opportunity for hands on training in an environment that handles a very wide range of computer hardware. These courses are oriented towards gaining a job in the workforce and have proven to be very successful in helping students to do so. Government funding is available for selected students to undertake these courses.

Due to their practical emphasis these are some of the best courses available in these areas. The Certificate III & IV courses also suit IT graduates who want to improve their practical skills in the PC, server and network areas.

English as a Second Language

English Classes for speakers of English as Second Language (ESL)
Offering Certificate II, III & IV in English Language Proficiency. These courses cover listening and speaking skills as well as reading and writing skills. The training will involve learning beyond the classroom by involving students in real life situations in the Australian community. The courses are open to international and local students.

The teaching venue is located at the Phillip Campus of Unity College.

Students may be required to sit an English test as part of their entry requirements.
